· I wrote Mr. Eli Wallach a letter not too long ago along with a photo of him and Marilyn on set of The Misfits. Mr. Wallach was kind enough to not only sign my photo, but sent me another signed photo of himself with Misfits director John Huston. Mr. Wallach also wrote me a personal letter which I am very, very thankful for. Here is a portion of the letter about Marilyn and The Misfits:
"Marilyn was a real trooper - worked hard... but had problems with Arthur Miller and their marital affairs - Gable and Huston were wonderful, helping her through her anxieties."
Mr. Wallach also went on to say that in the paperback verson of his book, The Good, The Bad and Me, that he wrote a whole chapter on The Misfits. I would like to send a big Thank You to Mr. Wallach for taking the time to not only read my letter and send me autographed photos, but to write me a letter as well. Click here to view my autographs.
I also received an autographed photo of Don Murray of Bus Stop! Mr. Murray was kind enough to send along a 4x6 black and white autographed photo as well! Mr. Murray is not only a great actor but a film director too! Thank You Mr. Murray for your generousity.

· A photographer has sued for the return of seven photographs he took of Marilyn Monroe in the nude during the legendary "last sitting" in a hotel room just weeks before her death.
Photographer Bert Stern, who owns the rights to thousands of Monroe images, shot the photographs in question in July 1962 at the Bel Air Hotel. He is demanding the prints from three people who obtained them.
Stern had sold the pictures to "Eros Magazine," but the images were never returned, according to a lawsuit filed on Wednesday in New York State Supreme Court.
Stern did not realize the images were missing until he was approached by three individuals who had obtained the photographs and wanted to license them, said his lawyer Stephen Weingrad. Click here to read more.

· Rare film footage of Marilyn Monroe on the set of her 1959 hit "Some Like It Hot" sold at auction Thursday night for US$14,624.
The two-and-a-half minute eight mm film, which features Monroe goofing around with co-stars Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, was shot by a U.S. naval officer who was invited to the set after Monroe visited his base in San Diego.
The sailor's daughter, who moved to Australia's Victoria state, discovered the film by chance among her late father's possessions.
The footage, which was snapped up by an unnamed collector from Sydney, was expected to sell for between US$16,721 and US$20,896.
"Admittedly our pre-sale estimate was something of a guess. The sale price was in the ballpark but we didn't have too much to compare it with," auctioneer Charles Leski of Leski Auctions said. "Our only comparison -- the only other bit of amateur footage of Monroe that changed hands at an auction -- was a 47-minute film shot by an extra on another of her films, 'The Misfits,' which was sold in Las Vegas in June for $US60,000."
The film shows Monroe surrounded by sailors at the base and later cuts to scenes from the movie set.
Monroe won a Golden Globe award in 1960 for her performance in the screwball comedy classic. She died in 1962 from a drug overdose.

· "Queen of Pop" Madonna liked to think that she was legendary sex siren Marilyn Monroe. According to the New York Post, Monroe’s ex husband, Yankee legend Joe DiMaggio often told friends that Madonna thought she was the famous blonde star.
What’s more, Madge was also reportedly crazy about DiMaggio because he’d been married to Monroe. He also mentioned her Vogue song in which she would rap “Greta Garbo and Monroe, Dietrich and DiMaggio.”
However, the Yankee Clipper wasn’t so eager to meet Madge, seeing her interest in him as weird bordering on creepy.

· The face of Marilyn Monroe has been reflected in so many pictures, and a lot of them are in the Andrew Weiss Gallery.
The gallery displays everything from Norma Jean to the ballerina she portrayed for photographer Milton Greene, and the Tom Kelley 1949 calendar pinup that became Playboy's first centerfold.
Photographs from the Edward Weston Collection are on exhibit and for sale. The images allow for an intimate look at the career of an icon.
"The camera loved her," said gallery owner Andrew Weiss. "She was probably the most photographed person ever, and she loved it. There are very few bad photographs, if any, of her."
The exhibit has chance snapshots from her honeymoon flight to Japan with Joe DiMaggio and even a publicity still shot from the movie that was never finished, "Something's Got to Give."
The collection also includes some rare photos by Bert Stern that have not been retouched. In fact, her appendix scar is visible in one picture.
An unreleased documentary is showing at the gallery. It is another way to see the screen legend.
"When I first made the movie people were saying, 'Well, isn't there enough about her?' There really isn't a move that tells the full story, and everything from her point of view," filmmaker Allan Holzman said.
It explores her brush with the Kennedys and considers whether there might be a link to her drug overdose death 46 years ago.
For the filmmaker, it has been a five-year labor of love.
"She's impossible not to fall in love with," Holzman said.
The exhibit continues through the end of the month. A portion of the proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
If she had lived, what would an 82-year-old Marilyn think of this?
"You can never imagine her old, or at least I can't, because she's forever young," Weiss said.

· Last March, Marilyn Monroe's Estate lost a courtroom war against the photographers of Marilyn's many famous images, claiming the estate was
"trying to defend her reputation from unauthorized merchandise such as t-shirts." Note the key word in that sentence is unauthorized. They don't care if Marilyn's face appears on a t-shirt, as long as they say so and get a cut of the commission.
The only reason Marilyn Monroe's Estate is continuing to fight in court is to have the rights to Marilyn's images, likeness, voice, everything. Why? So they can cash in on CMG's biggest money maker.
After their win last March, the photographers of Marilyn's famous photo's got together and created Legends Licensing. Now they have the right to let their images of Marilyn be used commercially or not. After all, those images were taken by them. Marilyn's Estate lost the battle against the photographers because the law protects deceased celebrities who were residents of Los Angeles. In the past, it's been reported that the estate listed Marilyn as a New York resident to avoid certain taxes. But once they tried to use that law against the photographers, they lost.
It didn't take long for them to fight back. I got an e-mail yesterday claiming that Marilyn's Estate has enlisted actor Martin Sheen to "press for action before the state Legislature adjourns June 23", to protect the rights of deceased celebrities. While I agree that deceased celebrities should be protected, the Marilyn Monroe Estate isn't trying to protect anything but their bank accounts. They aren't trying to stop anyone from making a Marilyn Monroe coffee mug or t-shirts because they already gave the 'okay' to do so in the past. So, really, it's hard to believe their claim of trying to protect Marilyn's image and act like it isn't about money.
If CMG, Marilyn Monroe's Estate and Marilyn's "heirs" want to protect her image and legacy, why not treat Marilyn for what she's worth? Why not DO something to HONOR her for once? Marilyn's "official website" (run by CMG) has been down for quite some time now but once the Estate was in the news again it magically came back. Did they not realize it was down until they put themselves in the news? The site is filled with commercial products and is never updated (you can still buy Christmas stocking stuffers from the main page).
For those who don't know, Marilyn has no real "heirs". The people getting all the money is CMG and Lee Strasberg's widow, Anna Strasberg, who has NEVER met Marilyn Monroe yet thinks she has the right to sell all of her personal belongings and own the rights to everything about her. Why didn't she give Marilyn's belongings to a museum or to Marilyn's half-sister and neice??
"I am not interested in money. I just want to be wonderful." - Marilyn Monroe

· Britney Spears visited the Hollywood Forever Cemetery over the weekend and after looking at the graves of Marilyn Monroe and Italian actor Rudolph Valentino, decided she wants to be laid to rest there.
A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Britney is fascinated with Marilyn and visits her grave often. Since she's been getting her life together she's been reading about the star and recently has been glued to a book about the actress."
"She's fascinated that Marilyn asked her favourite make-up artist to make her look beautiful after she died and picked her own burial plot. So when Britney saw Rudolph Valentino's grave at the cemetery she shrieked and said she wanted one."
"She told her aides, 'I'm going to live so I want to be brought to the Forever Cemetery when I'm 101.' "
Britney - who was at the graveyard to see a screening of Mick Jagger film 'Performance on Sunday' - has been working hard to get her life back on track following her alleged breakdown in January.
Following a stand-off with police, she lost custody of her two sons, Sean Preston, two, and 20-month-old Jayden James, to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
She was admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Los Angeles but since being released she has made a great improvement and was recently given back supervised visitation rights with her sons.

· Last year, David Beckham purchased a near-naked portrait of Marilyn Monroe from the swanky Beverly Hills-based gallery The Celebrity Vault to hang in the master bedroom of his Hollywood home as a gift to his wife, Victoria Beckham. But it seems "Terminator"-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger also has an expensive soft spot for the screen siren.
Pop Tarts confirmed that Schwarzenegger just purchased an original portrait of Monroe (covered only by a bedsheet) from the same place to complement the James Dean he also bought recently.
“Initially he was interested in some of the male music figures,” our source said. “But then he fell in love with the very candid Marilyn shot.”
The sassy snap is rumored to be worth several thousand dollars.
